Your feedback….

Your feedback….

Dear Members,

With the site more stable, we were able to release a “split orders” feature this week to address one of your concerns.  Members who place orders for items with different shipping time frames will now receive their in-stock items immediately.  The balance of the order will be shipped to you as soon as we receive it, at no extra cost.  We will also ship any jewelry items separately to ensure they arrive intact, again at no extra cost.

We got a lot of questions and comments last week about the “waitlist” function. Here’s how it works:

Waitlist allows you to be notified when an item is returned to general inventory. That happens when a member cancels a purchase, returns an item for sizing reasons, or when we’re able to secure additional inventory from a brand. The waitlist queue is first-come first-serve.  E-mail notifications are sent to one customer at a time based on their position in the queue.  Once you receive the e-mail notification you have 3 hours to place the item in your cart and purchase it before the next member in the queue gets an e-mail. You should take into account that the e-mail notification may take a while before showing up in your in-box.

Waitlist is a great feature (I got a favorite dress this way so I know it works). But during peak hours, I still recommend refreshing the page as a quicker and surer way to capture an item if it is released from a members cart back into inventory.

One last thing: while many of you have praised our customer service reps, we read a number of posts last week expressing frustration over delayed response times.  This is a recent issue, brought on by the overwhelming number of contacts logged during the Christian Louboutin and Final Sales.  Our customer service team is working overtime to get through the backlog and we hope to get back to each and every one of you shortly.  We continue to grow our customer service team with informed, courteous, and detail-oriented people who can deliver the kind of service you’ve come to expect from us.

I continue to be amazed by how invested our members are in Gilt Groupe. All your comments, both positive and negative, are a key factor in helping us address trouble areas, so please keep those comments coming!

what about placing a limit on the number of each item you can have in your cart? People log in and put every size of a single item in their cart. Can you please limit this to one per sale item? (if you want to buy more than one, you need to check out first.)

Glad to hear about the improvements in the wait list system, and the fact that dimensions are more consistently posted for bags. I would like to suggest that, like for your jewelry pieces, that there is some kind of mannequin to model the bags, especially for the oversized bags and wallets. It would be a great help to have an idea of what a nice looking bag would look like when 'worn'. Thank you for taking the time to read all of our comments. We, your customers, always appreciate when our voice is heard.

Just a comment - I have referred many friends who have made purchases but have never received the $25.00 credit. How does that work?

By nicolepsomas on April 30, 2009 at 12:19:20 PM

I honestly HONESTLY would purchase items 10 times more often if shipping were free or at least cheaper. I will sometimes justify purchasing a big item and pay the shipping cost, but on a daily basis when I see a little top or a cheap jewelry piece here and there, I will always pass it up because I can't justify paying the expensive shipping cost because it turns a good deal into not such a good deal anymore. PLEASE PROVIDE FREE OR CHEAPER SHIPPING!!!!

By terrytnguyen on April 30, 2009 at 12:21:53 PM

I have given your site to my daughter and she also bought several things. We have asked for the 25.00 credit a couple of times and have not received it. I will not be giving your site out as it is misrepresented. Lisa

By laf1 on April 30, 2009 at 12:21:58 PM

I also haven't recieved my 25.00 credit and when friends have signed up it says they merely opend the email and had not signed up, when I know they have because I was there. Items should say that they are in someone elses cart before you try to open the items link. Thanks Savannah

By cloud9girl on April 30, 2009 at 12:36:10 PM

i second terrytnguyen (and actually expressed my frustration in a post last week), please offer free or cheaper shipping, at least for smaller items!!!

By freyad15 on April 30, 2009 at 12:43:49 PM

Thank you for the update regarding customer service. I hope to receive my gift purchase prior to my niece's graduation. A note on the $25.00 credit - when my daughter invited me last year she immediately received her credit and was able to view it in her account. I don't believe the credit is a misrepresentation but I think that Gilt may be challenged to staff up to their growth rate. Most businesses would be glad of that challenge now but it is essential to add staff to protect their brand.

By baubry1 on April 30, 2009 at 12:44:54 PM

I'm glad to hear about split shipping, but I was under the impression you were already doing that. That's why I combined several items into one purchase during the blow-out sale, even though one pair of shoes wasn't slated to ship for several weeks -- I assumed the other items would be shipped immediately. (Especially since one of the items was a piece of jewelry, which I assumed would be send separately anyway.) I'm so disappointed to learn I'll have to wait for all of my items. I would've been willing to pay extra shipping in order to have the in-stock items delivered immediately, if I'd known.

By meg33 on April 30, 2009 at 12:45:55 PM

I agree about the shipping costs.....way too expensive! I also don't order less expensive items because of the shipping! I would order more if the shipping cost was not an issue.

By parrotheadpamn on April 30, 2009 at 12:47:51 PM

I agree with the shipping comment above--it is far too expensive. It does not cost $10 to ship an item that weighs 1lb--and items I've purchased have been this weight. I will often pass up an item because of the cost of shipping, unless I buy more than one item or have a credit. Please reconsider how much you charge for shipping and how that corresponds with the actual cost of shipping.

By saramichellewill on April 30, 2009 at 12:58:09 PM

You should allow international credit cards! I don't mean like some random bank in some country, but for like people in other places with a credit card like American Express or Visa, with just an international billing address. Or at least ignore the billing address. You should just make a rule that you only ship within the United States! I have tried paying with my card before and it worked! I don't like the new upgrade you have done with your system.

By parttimeangel1 on April 30, 2009 at 01:10:47 PM

The shipping costs need to be lowered. I love this site but cannot pay the shipping prices.

By ssterns on April 30, 2009 at 01:15:21 PM

One of the most frequent reasons I decide not to buy an item, other than I decide I don't really need it, is your exhorbitant shipping costs. Perhaps you should offer no additional shipping costs for anything purchased within the same week at least. On many occasions, I have decided not to buy something because I had just purchased something the day before and knew I would incur new shipping charges. It's a little difficult to justify spending 100's of dollars on shipping when you are a loyal customer who orders something once or twice a week.

By yesitsben on April 30, 2009 at 01:40:23 PM

i agree.... lower shipping. with so many people using this site.... there's no way you can't have some deal with a shipping company - especially since there is no way shipping costs this much anyway.

By johannaigel on April 30, 2009 at 01:49:28 PM

I agree with the shipping - if nothing at all, it should be free shipping over a reasonable amount (like $50) which is what alot of online stores do. Additionally, I have also not received my $25 credits. Thank you for addressing our conerns.

By nishampatel on April 30, 2009 at 01:54:48 PM

I really enjoy coming to this site . the prices are just unbeatable. But I agree with everyone else the shipping charge is too much.

By mariebox1961extrama on April 30, 2009 at 01:56:34 PM

I agree with most here about the shipping costs. They are very expensive. It shouldn't cost alot to ship smaller items. I do love the brands that you feature on your site but you do need to lower the shipping costs or offer free shipping to your customers. This will keep people returning more often I am sure.

By softballmom1609 on April 30, 2009 at 02:38:14 PM

I agree that $10 shipping on small, lightweight items may be somewhat high, but have you people actually tried to mail a package lately either with the U.S. Postal Service or UPS? The cost is very high....$10 doesn't go very far if the package weighs several pounds or is oversized! The packaging materials (boxes, paper, etc.) also cost money for that company to figure into its shipping costs. You all need to be more realistic...those of us who do not live in NYC or LA deal with shipping all the time to order beautiful, high-quality merchandise that is not available where we live!

By tdblt on April 30, 2009 at 02:52:05 PM

I would love to see more timely communication--I know there is a current backlog but it makes me feel as if my question will just go unanswered--an automated system would be helpful for this reason. IE, a quick email to say how long the wait time would be and provide an alternative (phone number with hours). It doesn't say on your website what your hours of operation are for customer service. That would be helpful and would help minimize email backlog. About the shipping, I ship things daily so I know what things cost. I think it is pretty reasonable, for the most part. UPS 3-day is quite expensive so it's a great deal for larger items such as handbags. Even if you are buying smaller items, you at least get tracking and delivery confirmation. That would be an additional cost if you were shipping USPS. I've only purchased one item so far, and am still waiting since the order has a 3 week delay. It's been sort of frustrating not to hear anything, and not know if it's 3 weeks business or calendar days that I have to wait. I think there would be a lot less frustration if things were clearly communicated on the website.

By virgo on April 30, 2009 at 03:34:23 PM

I don't have a problem paying shipping but the 1 hour rule is ridiculous. Most of these sales are on when I'm at work so I don't have the luxury of taking my time to go through the site to see what things I like and then buy them all at once. I end up buying one or two things I like really quickly and pay the shipping for them, but later on when I come back and find more things I like, it sucks to have to pay shipping again. It would be great if you had some sort of rule that if you already bought stuff from that day, that you're not charged shipping again. I know it's only $10, but psychologically having to pay shipping again sucks. Also, it would be nice if your return policy was increased to 30 days. I have family that lives in Canada and I sometimes buy things for them. Obviously I can't go back very often so if there's a sizing problem I can sometimes end up out of luck. A little more understanding for this would be appreciated. Other than that, great site, and thank you for all the deals!!!

By gbhullar on April 30, 2009 at 04:30:05 PM

I think Gilt's shipping prices are very reasonable. Other sample-sale sites charge at least $9.99 for s/h ... Gilt has a (typically) $12.00 flat rate PLUS free returns. 99% of the time my items are professionally packaged & I love the ease of the gratis return process. Putting a reasonable limit on the quantity of a particular item might work - - - but many people are buying items not only for themselves, but also legitimately for family members or as gifts [I know I do]. That said, a limit of 1 of a particular item in the cart at a time would be unreasonable. Perhaps a limit of 3 would be reasonable. Other sample sale sites range from mediocre to terrible. Gilt, on the other hand, is excellent. It is, hands down, the BEST sample sale site available ... bringing high fashion to the masses with panache.

By myinvitelink70892283 on April 30, 2009 at 05:30:35 PM

Thank you for all your hard work you guys put into this site. There are times when this site can be frustrating, but I remind myself I'm potentially saving a thousand dollars by buying through your site rather going to Nordstrom's or Saks. Again, thank you. That being said, I've received all 300.00 in account credits, no problem! Thanks again!

I love the mini dress I bought to wear as a tunic, and the white cashmere bolero. Your things are generally a great value.

By mislig2 on April 30, 2009 at 06:04:55 PM

While shipping rates can make or break a purchase for me - I find the values at Gilt are so amazing that it is hard to knock the shipping costs. Yes, flat fees even for small purchases are frustrating at times - but think of the incredible savings received and guarantee of authentic product!

By leilad on April 30, 2009 at 06:57:40 PM

I too have to admit that the shipping costs are a bit unreasonable. I can understand if I purchase a Leather jacket that may weigh a bit more than say something small and light, the shipping will go up. I recently bought some of the mens facial creams, and I wanted to buy two bottles but the shipping was $7 shy of being the same price as an 8 oz. bottle of face cream!! Please make the shipping cheaper

I purchased an Invicta watch and had trouble operating it. The literature that came with the watch did not include a customer service phone number or address. I tried emailing you, but never received a reply! Kind of soured me on your whole user experience.

By lanuite on April 30, 2009 at 07:09:29 PM

I agree as well with the $25 credit issues. Several of my friends have been invited and purchased items and I have not received any credits. Are there plans for a Jimmy Choo sale or possibly Manolo Blahnik? If so can you better prepare for the amount of inventory in comparison to the Christian Louboutin sale? That was a horrible experience. Two minutes and everything sold out?? Let's prevent that from happening again.

I am very disapointed in this website. I am very careful about which websites I add my email address to, for fear of the SPAM email that comes with registering with a website. Since a friend recommended Gilt to me, I decided to entrust gilt with my email address. Well this has been a huge mistake, I just registered in the beginning of the week and the amount of junk email I am now receiving in my email box daily is appalling. I have not registered with any other websites other than gilt within the past week, I NEVER received SPAM junk mail on my email account before and now it is incredible, I get about 25 pieces of junk email from various sites that could have only gotten my email from this gilt website. Net-a-porter, it's so obvious that they received my email address from gilt. BEWARE, this website is selling your information........

please find alternatives to your shipping rate. $11 is way too high.

By lesan on April 30, 2009 at 08:16:02 PM

I just wanted to put out there to other members that the waitlist DOES work; yesterday I had multiple items come off the waitlist and be available for purchase, and if you browse Gilt frequently you will recognize how long ago the sales for these items occurred (a pair of Hunter boots, 2 pairs of Loubous, a pair of Delman flats, a Kate Spade bag). I purchased one of the pairs of Louboutins, and deleted the rest of the items off my waitlist except the Kate Spade bag which is STILL available for purchase an entire day later! So there is no reason to NOT keep items in your waiting list for as long as possible, they may become available! HOWEVER, last fall/winter I purchased a Missoni scarf that came off the waitlist, only to discover that the item was out of stock and it was mistakenly added as an available item. Gilt gave me a full refund (including refunded the credit I'd used) AND gave me extra credit to make up for the mistake, and I came away from this with no hard feelings. This was the only semi-bad experience I've had with the waitlist function, I often have the option to purchase items on my list weeks after the original sale, I just keep the items on my list forever (or until they are deleted I assume by Gilt). The only issue I have with this function is the no returns/final sale policy; I believe that just because I'm not the first person who was able to purchase the item, I should still get the opportunity to return it if it doesn't fit/doesn't suit me.

I agree with parttimeangel1 that gilt.com should consider seriously on International members who want to purchase outside of US. It is frustrated when we see something we like but cannot purchase. Isn't it the objective of Gilt.com's business to grow internationally and bigger? Why did you restrict the billing address? If this work in the past, why must you change the new rule? It indeed tells me not to view your site any more and not introduce yours to others...

I ADORE your site and am so glad to hear how successful you are! My experience has only been positive and my wardrobe has grown in both quantity and quality thanks to your awesome buyers. Everyone has growing pains. Thank you for addressing them. Face it, you're too popular! One request/comment - it would be great to see a few west coast designers on your site. I know your buyers are in New York, but we have some great fashion out here too! Burning Torch, Graham and Spencer, Velvet ... Keep up the awesome work! A loyal customer, Julie Moody

Thank you for your efforts to resolve our "issues". I enjoy Gilt Group immensely, even when I am only browsing. I will use Waitlist now, however, since I understand it. Again, my appreciation to you.

Not having to deal with retail locations, no tax and, in some cases, 50% off prices makes $10 in shipping and handling seems like a bargain compared to the issues and hassles one would have to deal with while shopping at a brick and mortar. I always have fun visiting this site even if I don't purchase items. Customer Service has been excellent and I'm excited for the many upcoming sales. And, I agree, with Julie Moody's comment - Graham and Spencer would be a fantastic addition. Thanks!

I think charging $12.00 in shipping and then making us wait 2/3 weeks for a DROP SHIP from the manufacturer is out of line. That said...I just purchased a dress and am still waiting for it :( I think that will be my last purchase....and I will remove my email. As a reminder....Neimans offeres deep discounts and very often offers free shipping. For fun apparel (sun dresses etc) there is SHOPBOP.....GREAT prices and always FREE SHIPPING.

I agree the shipping cost is way too high and it doesn't help that after we shill out $12 it still takes so long.

I can't find if jewelry is returnable. Would you please let me know if I can return a pair of earrings that I bought last week? I wasn't real happy with them.. Thank you.......

By jewelie28 on May 1, 2009 at 11:14:39 AM

I was trying to purchase J brand jeans today & everytime I clicked on an item, I would click my size & it said it was not available, i then decided to search by my size only to see what was available & all of the styles that i was trying to purchase before came up, i then tried to buy them again & they still were not available. It is very frustrating to shop off your website, if you have a tab that can search by your size only, it should actually work!! I have had a much easier time buying from similar websites.

By gina555 on May 1, 2009 at 12:23:32 PM

I love gilt groupe! I am always happy with the customer service and pleased to come back for more with a company I feel good about. That being said, I also buy a TON of things from this website and recommend this site to a ton of people, but I do NOT think the shipping cost is very rational. I agree that I would be more likely to purchase smaller/cheaper items if the shipping were less expensive and I would be more likely to purchase in general since I consider shipping costs part of the price of the item. I suppose it is up to gilt groupe to figure out what is more cost effective for them - to charge less or no shipping or to deal with less or no purchasing - but I, for one, would purchase a lot more even if the shipping was $5 rather than $10. Free shipping is a very serious incentive for me, as a buyer with access to sample sales all over the city, to buy something. SIDE NOTE - I have received my $25 credits, but sometimes it's later than sooner - give gilt a call and they will generally fix the problem if you're not getting your credits.

By christieb on May 1, 2009 at 12:31:01 PM

I just bought some Isharya earrings and was pretty shocked to see that the shipping cost is still $10 for such a small item. I was charged $10 when I bought a bag...it shouldn't be the same! The only reason I convinced myself to buy the earrings was because I had received some account credits for referrals. Otherwise, I honestly don't think I would buy another small item from Gilt. I can understand charging shipping for large items, but smaller items should be at a lower cost or free, especially for repeat customers.

By ds21 on May 1, 2009 at 12:41:23 PM

please, please start shipping to Canada. I would be able to purchase so much more if I didn't have to get it shipped to my New York office!

By downtownist on May 1, 2009 at 12:59:09 PM

The shipping cost is the main reason I have passed up MANY purchases. If I am buying multiple items, it is one thing. I cannot justify paying $10 several times a week to ship. I always want to buy other items during the week, but the shipping adds up. I think you would be amazed at how much more items you would sell if you offered free shipping. I could see myself buying almost exclusively through Gilt if you cut the shipping out. Please please consider this!! Thanks

By flygirlheb on May 1, 2009 at 01:00:57 PM

I can live with the shipping charges as long as it includes free return shipping. Just dropping off a return at the UPS counter is so easy, and it makes me much more likely to take a chance. Of course, FREE shipping would be a different matter. What bugs me is when I've put something in my cart successfully, but then when I go to purchase it (within my 10 minutes), it tells me the item is not available because someone else bought it. I feel lied to. Does anyone have a tip for how to avoid that? I've had many successful buys from gilt, including one from the waitlist. I'm becoming a fan. Thank you.

I received the wrong pair of shoes yesterday. And I would suspect that I can no longer get the pair I really wanted. And today, my Alexander McQueen gown has a sensor attached to the lining. I will try and work out the sensor issue, but I thought you might want to know about these 2 items. Nontheless, the items you offer at the deeply discounted prices are unmatched for a savvy shopper like me.

By angelaellismoore on May 1, 2009 at 02:18:04 PM

Hi Wannabe, I will contact you personally via email to better understand what you experienced with your cart. - Shan @ Gilt.

I agree that I would order so much more frequently if the shipping were free or at least cheaper. It is the shipping cost that always talks me out of ordering smaller impulse items. (Good for my finances, but probably not good for Gilt!)

By brookejg1 on May 1, 2009 at 03:37:09 PM

I love Gilt and am continuing to order items weekly. But I do have a serious issue -- representation of color in the photos. Recently I purchased a Halston bag which was shown as WHITE, yet listed as GRAY, but arrived as dark graphite! And now I'm being told I can't return it even though it was clearly shown incorrectly! This has prevented me from purchasing many items since. And will continue to limit purchases -- unless you offer return or credit.

i'm glad that you listen to our suggestions and feedbacks! i'm still upset about the cart thing - i lost my favorite dress due to the cart issue :'( but i guess - it is what it is. i love the items that have been selected in this website. :) would gilt please bring back christian louboutin? :) maybe make a poll and let members to select some brands/items that we want :D

It amazes me that being your business is great in these slow economic times that you wouldn't respond to several emails that I sent regarding some jewerly that I received and was crap. Customer service to me is the main part of a successful business, but it seems you are very lacking inthat department. A response would be nice.

By scmerritt on May 1, 2009 at 08:41:17 PM

Hi, I love this site and check it every day, great job! I am also an international user and would love it if international shipping was available. Currently I have to have my items shipped to a forwarding address in the SU and it takes a month to receive. Shopbop, Neimans as well as many, many others ship overseas, so it's not impossible. Thanks for listening.

I've written two emails in regards to cancelling an order, but no one has gotten back to me yet. I've placed the order over a week now and it has not been shipped yet. I want to cancel my order because I needed the dress for a party this weekend. I'm disappointed that I have not gotten a response. I purchase from Gilt at least once a month if not more.

your system is not stable at all. 1. after about 6 or 7 purchases it rejected my credit card. which is valid and works everwhere else. on the bases that my billing address is incorrect. Obviously it is not the case. 2. credit which i earned for promoting guilt to my firend who had bought items from you, was not applied to my recent purchase which i decided to cancel, 3. Iam on east coast. it is frustrating and discouraging not to be able to have access to sales on gilt when the whole collections is made available for fashion hunting. i know there is a time difference. However you might like to think of having your subscribers checking upon signing out time zone. it will be enough to divide the country at least into two zones::east and west coast. it will be nice to have sales starting not when we are deep in sleep. 4. customer service:: phone is not pick up at all. the few times i tried. recorded voice announce that all representaives are busy. however it did not provide an opition to hold for the next available represnetative. Which makes one question if this message is not phone from start and they are no customer services reps out there at all? 4. one of your reps: Fred send me and email replay to my issues:: with body copy saying "dup" what ever that means in gilt terms? other then that gilt is a great idea. regards, e

In terms of the shipping cost, I think it would be really interesting if Gilt offered a special membership like Amazon's Amazon Prime. For $80/year I get free shipping on all items I order, and I love it that way. I don't take serious issue with Gilt's shipping cost right now, but if Gilt did offer something similar, I would sign up. (Not suggesting that this would enable people to receive entry into sales earlier, etc. Just a suggestion for shipping!) Also, I love Gilt. Not having to leave my desk at work and still having access to great sample sales is amazing. Not having to wait in 3 hour lines? Also amazing.

I know your working to improve the stability, but the whole cart / wait list is still broken when I try it. I select an item in my size that looks avail, it tells me that its in someone's cart, so I click on the wait list button. the problem is that after that I look at my wait list and it is never in there, I've refreshed... tried it several times and I cant get it to show up. love your site and I'll keep trying but thought I would let you know the only way I can actually buy something is if I get it in my cart straight off. Oh, how about a Joie sale or a Haute Hippie? :)

I haven't found anything with an inseam of at least 34", if not 36". I am 6' and find it almost impossible to find any pants to fit me. I am hopeing that you carry something in my height/size. I just joined so I haven't seen everything yet. Wolfie

I agree with all the posts regarding shipping prices. $13.00 to ship is exceedingly high. Many times I have placed items in my cart but neglect to follow through as shipping brings the total beyond what I want to pay for the item. A more reasonable shipping rate would prevent this from happening.

By littleerin on May 2, 2009 at 09:38:26 PM

I sincerely believe the $25 fee is a scam, I have received it a few times when friends purchased, but more than 1/2 dozen and I have emailed them to you have registered, I know as I resent invite and it came back "already registered" just days after I sent an email and they were not registered. These "friends" do not show up in my registered file only "opened invitation" . This is truly not legal as it is misrepresented, I sent your CEO a list of some of the names and have not received a response, I will suggest some have gone through, however since Jan people who have registered have not shown up on my "registered" column in my account.. You do not have to provide this service you have a great product, do not ruin it by trying to save $25 a few times....My friends , the ones I received the $25 from ,all registered prior to Jan. buy very expensive items. This becomes a serious legal issue as it is totally misrepresentation, or I hope just a snag in the system but , one time maybe , five or six or more, questionable. LOVE THE SIGHT !! IT is addictive and great, however , this is just unfair

I agree with parttimeangel1 about the international credit card issue. One day I was no longer able to use my european card. All my emails remain unanswered. I stopped buying but I guess Gilt doesn't care.

By 2008 on May 3, 2009 at 07:50:42 AM

I love the waitlist feature. There is definitely one way it could be improved, however. When I get an email days or weeks after a sale is over saying a piece I put in my waitlist is now available, I can not link back to that piece to find out the details about it the way I can during a live sale. When I click on the item in the email from Gilt it takes me right to my shopping cart and my only option is to checkout. Sometimes I'd like to revisit the detailed information and see a full size picture of the item that becomes available to make sure it is still something I'm interested in. Many times I get the email weeks after the sale is over and I'd like to refresh my memory about the item before commiting to buying it. Thanks!

The shipping could be cheaper on small items, but it doesn't stop me from shopping on your site. You have great deals! My biggest complaint is that the items I want often sell out too quickly. I still haven't gotten over a pair of Cynthia Vincent boots I didn't get 6 months ago...

By yvonneortiz on May 3, 2009 at 03:23:37 PM

I don't think the shipping charges are unreasonable at all, especially on bags. I shop for myself, my sisters and my Mom, and paying that small amount for 2 or 3 bags is actually quite inexpensive compared to the department stores; however, I do agree that on smaller items, perhaps a wallet or such, the shipping can be adjusted accordingly. I've had to pay $17.00 for shipping one bag at Bloomies, so people can't really complain! In any event, the shipping cost does not deter me from buying. It's a wonderful site and I've found some great deals here. I only had one problem with customer service and my answer was timely and the rep extremely helpful. Thanks Gilt!!! Loyal customer, shipping or not.

I see that you have a sale on mens denim jeans. I tried to find those jeans and 10 minutes later i quit.. You can not click on the jeans, you can not click on the icons below the main jean sale ad, The jeans are hidden and now i can not buy any.. Your web site is loosing money... thank you paul

By pab1inc on May 4, 2009 at 09:59:43 AM

I don't mind paying $10 for shipping if it means I'll be receiving my purchase. It's been a month since I ordered the dress and the status still displays "order received." Since when does "item usually ships in 1-2 weeks" mean "maybe you'll get it by Christmas?" I haven't heard anything at all from the customer service department, and it has been a week since I've sent them an email inquiring about my order. I hope Gilt hires more people, because it seems like the monkeys who already work there can't complete one single order in a month's time.

By optimoasiatico on May 4, 2009 at 12:40:33 PM

The cart seems a little buggy to me as well, and really disappointed me during the Isharya sale. I added a pendant to my cart, then added the serpent cuff to my cart... only to discover that the pendant had mysteriously disappeared from my cart. I went back to add the pendant, and that time the serpent cuff had disappeared. By the time I went back to the serpent cuff (seconds later), it was already in someone else's cart and then later sold out. Ugh. Was there a special rule in place during that sale?

I just received my order of the Voluspa Black Box candles and I wanted to say they are wonderful. The packaging was very professional and my purchase arrived in perfect condition. The scents are, for the most part, fantastic. With a variety, even though ordering online and having never the opportunity to decide on a fragrance, it has allowed me to find three out of four that are very nice. I also have had good communication from your company. When my first order was canceled, I was generously compensated and all of this done in a timely manner. I have to say I am impressed and will now tell my friends of this site. Thank you - Sherry

By ns4gns on May 6, 2009 at 01:10:28 PM

love the site and I spread the word....but PLEASE make it black berry and iphone compatible...a top I waitlisted became available, but neither phone could complete the purchase, so I called and by then the item was unavailable- pretty frustrating. It would also be great to have free shipping, at least within the week. Still, a great site!

By tamick on May 6, 2009 at 05:25:10 PM

I wrote an email suggesting dissatisfaction about "invite a friend", I truly believe I was mistaken and the staff at Gilt has done everything, if not too much , to try to accommodate my questions. They are the most professional team in the industry, now if we can only have them all run for political office!!!! The honesty and care is truly humbling and truly sincere. Thanks. Thanks . Thanks!!!

I've been a member for over a year now and I finally decided to purchase the D&G Floral Ruffle Hem Skirt and it is fabulous. I can hardly wait to wear it, after I find just the right shoes and top to go with it. I know I will be the envy of my friends. I will be looking to do more shopping on this site in the months to come. Thank you for this great site.

By toy9t on May 13, 2009 at 04:17:13 PM

I would like to be able to access the details of an item (description, sizing, material, etc.) after it has been purchased for future reference as it still exists in my account information.. I wanted to find out the metal material of a pair of sunglasses and sizing, and was no longer able to access that as it was in my wait list.. Could not find the info on the internet either on the designer's site.. You seem to give interesting and critical details about the items when perusing them for purchase and then after the sale is over all the information no longer retrievable.. Thks.

By davidj6001 on May 15, 2009 at 11:20:21 PM

AGREED - Shipping is overpriced like crazy, especially when Shopbop, which carries many of the same brands, offers FREE shipping AND cash refunds. Oh yeah, and I never got my $25 credit, either.

By grumpgirl on August 23, 2009 at 10:47:53 PM

Not a complaint, but a request...the Lorelei sale you offered a couple of days ago...you showed a sloan clutch on the model which was a tan color, but the sale did not carry any...can you please repost the sale and put that bag--I really want it!

By jjalldaway on August 26, 2009 at 11:06:01 PM

I was about to purchase one of the 29 Cosmetics items valued at $32 and when I realized that a $10 shipping charge would be assessed I decided that I could do without the item altogether. These shipping prices are beyond exorbitant. With so many alternatives for e-shoppers, I am amazed that Gilt has not reconsidered its shipping -charges policy. Shipping makes me think and think again, and I often go elsewhere as a result. Sorry.

By donnabishopseaton on August 29, 2009 at 03:46:22 PM

I must say that I have stopped coming and using this site due to shipping cost. It's ridiculous to charge $10 for something that is less than 1lb. It looks like you guys are making your profit off of shipping cost. I have found other similar sites that offer free shipping if items are over $50 and have decided to stick with those sites rather than this one unless you make a permanent change with shipping.

By velasquezm22 on September 17, 2009 at 12:20:33 PM

FREE SHIPPING is a must these days.

By ezj414 on September 22, 2009 at 01:07:51 PM

Okay, I really don't have a complaint about shipping but perhaps that's because I don't purchase things that are $25 on your site. That being said, I do have a complaint about lack of GIFT CARDS!! We are rounding the corner on the Holiday season and I would really appreciate NOT getting a bunch of crap I don't want. It would be awesome if you guys could figure out how to let people purchase gift cards. PLLEEEEEAAAASSSSSEEEE!

I have tried to call the number below, and now this is my third email regarding item # 389628, order # 2247771. It is a Kara Ross Large Rectangle Resin Link Necklace $250.00. It arrived broken. I am very angry becaused it was already broken when it was crammed into the little box. The person who wrapped the rubberbands around the box knew it was broken, and still put it into a shipping box and mailed it to me. That person knew that it was not returnable and that I would have problems returning it. Now I feel scammed. I purchased this in good faith and was sold something that was broken. I expect a refund to my American Express account. Camille Lyons camilleltx@austin.rr.com

I ordered a pair of Oliver Peoples glasses on Sept 26, and it is stating that I won't receive them for a month? I'm sorry but that is just absolutely ridiculous! Why would you take someone's money and not deliver the product for a month? It is not handmade nor unique, what is the hold up? This shipping service you have going on at GILT is awful. This is and will be the last purchase I EVER make with this site. Good job! You just lost a customer as well as ANY references I would have given...

You guys definitely need to re-think the shipping costs. I really want to purchase the Juice Beauty skin care products but I just can not justify paying $12 for a couple of bottles of cleanser and moisturizer.

By wallerpamela on October 28, 2009 at 02:17:22 PM

I agree about the shipping sentiment - I would be much more likely to make small daily purchases if shipping were free.

Gilt is definitely a great place to go to find great deals. I'm so glad to be a part of gilt.com. I found another great site that gives back to charity. www.YourCharityStore.com. Check it out!

By jmd2410 on November 23, 2009 at 12:09:13 PM

Shipping should be based on your distance from wherever the item is coming from. I live in NYC and should not really have to pay $10 for a light weight item to ride across a bridge.

It is an absolute TRAVESTY how difficult you make it getting ANY SORT of a CONTACT number

There have been an outcropping of similiar sites to Gilt, but Gilt has certainly set a standard that has yet to be matched! I am waiting anxiously for another Lou Bou sale and Wolford. The pantyhose in today's Marc by Marc Jacob's are breaking my heart. So cute!

I recieved the Lova black contrast jacket yesterday, before scheule. I am baffled however, at the conditon of the jacket when it arrived. It was literally balled up in the plastic in the box, as if someone just threw in the box. This is strange to me. I have never revieved any merchandise from any venue in this order. I am truly amazed. Davie Ramsey

I would have purchased a LOT more items if shipping were REASONABLE or free.

Think you could add size dimensions for jewelry and other items? Would make it easier to imagine how something would look on you. Thanks

Dear Gilt, I bought Thom Browne shirt and Isaia trouser. They definitely look store rejects. Thom Browne shirt is size 3 which is supposed to be about medium (16 or 50) but this is definitely very small ( 14 or 46 ). Even though, it have a tag with 3 size, I believe it was rejected by Barneys (the original place of this shirt). The Isaia trouser had markings/folding on the bottom for alterations. This trouser also was definitely tried by some customer for sizing but decided not to purchase it, and sold to Gilt. Gilt shouldn't sell these rejected items or incorrect sized clothing as though they are brand new from the manufacturer. I had better luck with the 2 sunglasses from Barton Perreira but I have to think twice about buying any clothing from you. Now, I will try to get refund or credit but since I have been out of country and past the 21 days refund policy, I probably will not have any luck even though these clothing are clearly rejects/defective. I hope you get some peole who do quality check on your items before you ship it! best regards, ylk

You guys started adding sales tax now? Come on. I love gilt but this is turning me away.

I already submitted this comment under "help" but think it's worth repeating. I am dismayed by the lack of assistance during any holiday. I seem to experience issues with the site and since there's no one to reach, I end up not making any purchases. It would be great if Gilt considered having an assigned tech. support who can check to make sure that the site is in running order and who can respond to issues.

I DON"T recommend this WEB. I bought an Item on 11/13/09 they just told me that they don't have it on 01/06/10. I am VERY disapointed for service. I hope they will not use my Credit card.

By dosreij2 on January 6, 2010 at 04:39:18 PM

I have used you with great results for several purchases. Then, I bought a G & Co. E8 Watch and it doesn't work. When I tried to go through the return policy, I find that accessories can't be returned. So, BUYER BEWARE! They might send you a piece of junk and you have no recourse! Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice, shame on me. NEVER AGAIN!

To the person who said it does NOT cost $10 to ship a 1lb item via UPS, you are sadly mistaken. It most definitely does. UPS is out of control lately with what they charge businesses for shipping, unfortunately.

Not sure how the whole process works on which sales you choose to feature on Giltman, but please have another Diesel sale and a french connection sale, I get pretty busy here at work with trainings and mtgs, so I missed out on a sick pair of Zatiny jeans from the Diesel sale, that haunt me to this day, siiigh! $10 for shipping is way too high. Other sites i have gone to, charge $6. I noticed you charge more for more expensive items which is stupid they should go by size/weight not by how much i spent. After noticing how everyone says that inviting friends for $25 is a scam i dont think i will recommend you to anyone. Also your crappy customer service doesnt respond to anyone. Drop the new york attitude b/c there are plenty of other sites out there (haute look, ideeli, topbutton.)..

Hi, I'd appreciate some clarification on the waitlist functionality. 1. The original post on this thread says that a customer has 3 hours to purchase an item after the item is available and the customer has the next spot in the queue. The original post is obviously dated. The FAQ says that time is 15 minutes. Which is correct? 2. The post also recommends refreshing the browser as the best way to secure an item. How is this consistent with the waitlist queue? For example, if customer one places an item in their cart, and customer two joins the waitlist for that same item, could someone other than customer two secure the item before their waitlist reservation time is over (3 hours or 15 min)? Also, are there exclusive sales or early releases to some clients? I've been on the site at the inception of sale, only to find every color and every size already sold for some items. How can the even really small/large sizes go so fast? I suspect a scalper or intermediary buying quickly to resell elsewhere, an automated program buying, or an early release. Thanks for any help, Graham
