Punch Hutton’s Picks: Vanity Fair’s Deputy Editor on Her Artistic Inspirations

Rife with social significance, the artful photographs and illustrations in Vanity Fair magazine have been (and continue to be) documenters of American history and culture. And, for this sale, we were lucky enough to spend some time with the magazine’s deputy editor, Punch Hutton, who chose her favorite images from Vanity Fair’s mind-boggling archives. Her picks run toward the glamorously breezy: think Edward Steichen’s photo of Douglas Fairbanks and his wife lounging on the beach in Malibu; Cecil Beaton’s impromptu snap of a suited-up Gary Cooper; and A.H. Fish’s ebullient, colorful illustrations depicting everything from a group of seaside weekenders to a couple walking on a windy day. Shop the sale on Gilt Home starting Sat. June 14, at noon.
