I'm Gilty: Mimi Jung
Whether it's coincidence or just great taste, blogger and stylist Mimi Jung's online boutique has had a very Gilty start. On a whim she decided to use her blog to try to sell a pair of Nina Ricci boots she'd bought from Gilt. Within an hour the boots had sold — and the Brook&Lyn boutique was born. We chatted with Mimi about the origins of her style, her favorite winter staples, and the special joys of vintage jewelry.
How did you put this outfit together?
I started by picking the jewelry first. I was pretty excited to try this vintage Castlecliff necklace before handing it over to my boutique. Then I added this beaded necklace to bring all the red to life. To be honest, the ensemble came from trying to protect myself from the cold. And these Michael Kors boots have become a staple for me this winter. They’re like four boots in one — you can't beat that!
What is your style philosophy?
Accessorize, accessorize and accessorize.
How has your personal style evolved?
I find myself borrowing less from trends and being drawn to what comes naturally instead.
How do you deal with the I-have-nothing-to-wear conundrum?
I have access to some of the most amazing vintage jewelry from my online boutique, so it's rare for me to have that problem these days. But when it does happen, I change up my process. Maybe I'll start by picking my accessories or shoes first, and building an outfit from that. It's a quick way to update your look by using what you already have.
What are you coveting for spring?
A new watch. Watches are a big investment item for me, so it takes a lot of time and effort to find one that I can turn into a family heirloom.
What essential item can make or break a look?
Fitting. Make friends with your local tailor! We love submissions! Submit Gilty pictures to imgilty@gilt.com

I'm Gilty: Erin
Oakland student and fashion blogger Erin Hagstrom was snapped by her boyfriend in her latest Gilt purchase – a Steven Alan skirt. We caught up with the 26-year-old to chit-chat about leggings, vintage, and the allure of sparkly trinkets.
How did you put together this outfit?
The day before this photo was taken, I found the blouse and the sweater in a thrift store. I got home and realized they went together really well. And the skirt just pulled it all together.
How would you describe your style?
It’s a mix of designer and thrift. I find stuff in thrift stores and at estate sales at least once a week – it’s pretty much an addiction, and affordable for a student like me. But I also covet certain new pieces. I don’t go to the mall very often, but I browse online every day.... Read more

I'm Gilty: Megan
Megan Starr glammed it up for Gilt at the Harvard show. Afterwards, the environmentalist-in-the-making (she studies climate change) dished about her East Coast style.
Tell us about your outfit.
I’m wearing a French Connection blouse with my own J Brand jeans (purchased on Gilt of course!). The purple leather jacket is from Diesel, and the silk pumps are Oscar de la Renta. It is a combination I wouldn’t put together myself, but it worked really well – and it was fun to step out of my comfort zone and walk around in such a gorgeous ensemble.
How would you describe your style philosophy?
I'm from Cape Cod, so I was raised on a steady diet of Nantucket Reds and boat shoes, but my roommates have exposed me to different ways of dressing, and I've slowly started incorporating new styles. For the New England winters, however, I tend to stick to a dark ... Read more

I'm Gilty: Kylie
Kylie Thompson, 19, wowed the crowd at Harvard in an outfit chosen for her by the Gilt team. Afterwards, we asked her to dish about her own fashion choices.Tell us about your outfit.
This is a Gryphon sequined dress. I’m also wearing pink pumps by Sergio Rossi, and bangles by Miriam Salat and Alex & Ani. It wasn’t an outfit I'd usually wear, because I always wear black or earthy colors, but I felt great in it. I'm a big fan of the shoes, even though I am convinced that, because I'm 5’10’’, when I wear really high heels I look like a tranny!... Read more

I'm Gilty: Samia
- Samia Arthur-Bentil was the picture of summer chic on the catwalk in this patterned minidress. We quizzed the pre-med student on what else she likes to wear.
- Tell us about your outfit.
- This dress by Mara Hoffman is really fun. I wore it with a pair of saddle pumps by Frye, and I got to show off a lovely CC Skye bag too. I felt young and trendy and super comfortable in the dress – it’s something I’d wear to a sunny afternoon garden party. It could work as a club outfit as well, but maybe with slightly lower heels!
- How would you describe your style philosophy?
- I call it urban-chic. It's a mish-mash of different items from different styles. There's hipster and urban-wear in my wardrobe, but also cutesy, girly items – plus a whole lot of black, denim and fun shoes.... Read more

I’m Gilty: Tyler
Twenty-year-old Tyler Funk struck a pose for us in a preppy ensemble. We wanted to know how he liked the outfit curated by the Gilt team – and how he dresses himself.
Tell us about your outfit.
I’m in a pair of grey Theory slacks, a blue shirt from Billy Reid, and a Psycho Bunny tie. The outfit was fun, but it was my first time wearing such form-fitting pants. I'm not sure Gilt realized I had such an ample backside! But I felt very good in the outfit nonetheless, and now I wish all my outfits were chosen for me.
What’s your style philosophy?
It’s hard to pin down. On a good day I'll throw on a custom fit Polo shirt and some jeans, preferably Lucky or AG. I am also a sucker for a nice suit with more of a European fit.... Read more

I'm Gilty: Charlie
- We spotted Charlie Melvoin backstage at our Harvard fashion show – and just had to ask the 22-year-old student all about his colorful and comfy fashion sensibility.
- Tell us about the outfit you are wearing.
- I am in a Ted Baker button down, Earnest Sewn jeans, a patterned Bamford & Sons blazer, and light pink Sperry sneakers, all from Gilt. The outfit was a combination of casual and formal – sharp but not overdone – and I felt very comfortable.
- How would you describe your style philosophy?
- Coming from Los Angeles, I'm more of an informal dresser. I prioritize comfort over anything else. For me, comfort equals confidence. Beyond that I'm pretty eclectic: I like to express my individuality, but not so much that it seems like an attempt to attract attention through clothes.... Read more

I'm Gilty: Sophie
- We quizzed Sophie Wharton, a cognitive science student who donned a dress for Gilt’s fashion parade, on what she thinks is chic.
- Tell us about your outfit.
- This Badgley Mischka dress is really elegant and simple. I wore it with big crystal Kenneth Jay Lane earrings and a silver Robert Lee Morris cuff bracelet. To balance all that silver out, I carried a crazy hot pink python skin clutch from Shana London. I felt pretty classy in the dress, and the accessories were really fun and girly.
- How would you describe your style philosophy?
- I usually choose clothes that are comfortable and will make me feel sexy. My style is a bit bohemian and funky, but I also try to change things up and not ever be too predictable.... Read more

I'm Gilty: Erinn
- Erinn Westbrook was just one of the fabulous models rocking it on the runway for Gilt at a recent event at Harvard University. We asked the American Lit student to tell us more about her "girly glam rockstar" style.
- Tell us about your outfit.
- This adorable strapless green dress is by Ali & Ro; I love the way it is fitted on top and tiered at the bottom. I like pairing girly pieces with something that give my look an edge, so I was glad to be given the black Diesel leather jacket to wear too. The gold D&G cuff was the perfect accessory to go with it all and the Sergio Rossi shoes were killer. I felt very ‘me’ in the outfit.
- How would you describe your style philosophy?
- High-fashion urban. I am girly but with an edge. I love to mix and match and I think your style should reflect how you want to feel. As cliché as it may sound, I really don't like to blend in. I love big designers but I also adore vintage finds, and I put my own spin on what's ‘in.’ ... Read more

I'm Gilty: Greta
We saw fashion blogger Gretchen Eagan of Greta’s Guide on weardrobe wearing her Fashion’s Night Out tee. We just had to find out more.
- Tell us about your Fashion’s Night Out outfit.
- I love to mix a little luxe with a sweet graphic tee to balance things out. I wore this outfit to the Weardrobe Conference NYC because it made me feel comfortable and confident. I tucked it into my favorite All Saints bubble skirt, belted high on my waist, and finished it all off with a pair of sky-high platform patent-leather Tory Burch sandals, oversize Tom Ford sunglasses and an electric-purple Nooka watch. That little pop of color always makes me feel like my outfit is complete. ... Read more
