Five Questions for Molly Sims

Haute mama. Those are the first words we think of when we think of Molly Sims. So we asked the model and actress to curate a sale featuring all her favorite baby items. We’re really excited we had the chance to chat with her, and we hope you’re as inspired by her maternity style staples and mommy prep tactics as we are!

We love MollySims.com! What inspired you and how did you get started?
I have always been the “go to” girl when my friends are in need of a new hair or beauty product, have a fashion dilemma, or need decorating advice. If I don’t have the answer, I have a network of friends who will! I am also the queen of research and absolutely love to learn, but what I love even more is sharing my findings. MollySims.com is a great avenue for sharing info as well as finding answers — I’m always asking my members for input on their favorite things. My group of girlfriends has expanded infinitely thanks to the World Wide Web.

Now that you ‘re expecting, will the topics on your site shift to mommyhood?
I can’t wait to be a mom and document my journey, but I’m not going to shift completely to all things mommy. I believe we are all multi-faceted people and I have so many passions and interests that I enjoy sharing on my website. For example, I am already married, but will continue to share tips on wedding planning because that was extremely helpful to me.

What is your style staple for a growing baby bump?
Super-cozy fabrics! My skin has been very sensitive since I got pregnant, and scratchy fabric makes me want to crawl out of my skin. I still feel very feminine when I wear long flow-y skirts and dresses with a blazer. I will never forget my heels but I have to admit…my flats are much more comfortable. Loving Rachel Pally but will never give up my Isabel Marants.

What have you learned about mommyhood so far, and where do you get your advice?
Being a mother-to-be has definitely made me more aware of my body, the world we live in, and the importance of being eco-friendly (Jessica Alba sent me an amazing gift basket that was made up of all-natural products from her wonderful new venture, The Honest Company). I have been reading so many books — I really love the The Healthy Child Healthy World by Christopher Gavigan. Really breaks it down for you, baby, and your home. My OBGYN wrote the most amazing book called Expecting 411 that has been my bible — it’s funny with a modern twist. Love Dr. Michele Hakakha!

We see so many trendy tots these days. Are you hoping for a tiny trendsetter?
I’m just hoping for a healthy baby (we’re having a boy)! I’m will admit that I’m a little obsessed with baby clothes right now. How come things look so much cuter when it comes in a teeny weenie size? Loving everything by Aden + Anais, especially the swaddle clothes.
