Photos c/o Style.com, Popsugar, and Gilt.com

There’s no crime in admitting serious intimidation when it comes to runway trends — hey, bejeweled Tevas and 3-D florals aren’t for everyone. But we have a feeling one of the season’s biggest style stories — matched sets — may have caught your eye at the spring shows, spotted everywhere from Alexander McQueen (the wow-factor checks above) to Marc Jacobs. Now, how to pull it off minus the seasoned catwalk strut? Take a cue from professional mix master Solange Knowles, a huge fan of the matching movement who rarely shows up anywhere without a perfect printed combo in tow. And what about the non-A-listers who aren’t blood-related to Queen Bey? Enter resident real (and enviably chic) girl Joyann King, digital director at Harper’s Bazaar, who’s featured in our Spring Trend series today wearing Suno’s signature graphics and serving up definitive proof that spring’s New Suit deserves a place in your wardrobe.

Spring Trends: Nylon’s Rachael Wang Shows Us How to Wear Black & White

Does anyone know the ins and outs of trends better than the fashion editors who help distill them? Our thoughts exactly. And since spring fashion has officially arrived, we’ve tapped some of the industry’s chicest pros for the inside scoop on how to incorporate right-this-minute pieces into your wardrobe all season in our spring trends series.

First up is Nylon’s Fashion Market Director, Rachael Wang, who’s fallen particularly hard for one of spring’s biggest stories: Black and white. “What I love about the trend this season is that it doesn’t feel mod or retro at all — the shapes are modern and the fabrics are innovative,” she says. Try her graphic, mix-and-match approach, or test the waters with a bit of sleek color-blocking: “You don’t have to go all out. Try beige accessories to break up the starkness, and err on more white than black.”

New York Fashion Week: Top Trends for Moms

On Monday night we hopped a cab to Lincoln Center. Final destination: The Strut Fashion Show, a dream turned reality for Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein of themoms.com. The show featured haute mamas (including actress Lisa Rinna) flaunting spring’s coolest clothes. Host Wendy Williams emphasized that “moms on a mission” come in all shapes and sizes, so Lycra is necessary (she read our minds!). The looks came in a slew of silhouettes, but here are the top trends from the runway.
