Label We Love: Milly

Feminine, distinctive, confident, and just a touch ladylike: Michelle Smith of Milly creates clothing we all love to wear with good reason. Smith tells Gilt StyleFile that “the Milly girl knows no boundaries!,” and who doesn’t want to be that girl? So we are thrilled to have a Milly event on Gilt.com, starting at noon ET on October 16.

Smith explains, “My designs always have a certain classicism, which transcend the trend of the moment.” And her line of handbags are a testament to that statement with timeless shapes in the most luxe leathers and fabrics, but always with a twist that keeps them interesting and unique.

Where would our work wardrobes be without Milly? Sheaths that make us feel sexy but are always still appropriate, wrap dresses that flatter, and all with the color and pattern that we’ve come to adore from the brand. Even Milly’s sweaters have enough delight and whimsy to keep us feeling fun when we need to be cozy.

Every piece is a lasting investment, thanks to Smith’s savvy design philosophy. The NYC-based designer tells us, “I guess one of the keys to my success is my ability to evolve with the trends while maintaining my signature look. The collection is built to last for years to come. I love pulling out some vintage Milly each season to mix with my new collection pieces!”

Shop Milly: Clothing, Jewelry, and Handbags on Gilt.com on October 16, starting at noon ET. And enjoy 15% off just for Gilt shoppers on millyny.com by clicking this link!

Label We Love: Sandro

For years, all the stylish girls we knew would go to Paris and come back in fabulously chic outfits. When asked where they got their new looks, the answer was invariably “Sandro.” And now we’re lucky enough to be able to get our own pieces of Parisian chic on this side of the pond, when Sandro comes to Gilt.com this Friday, September 21!

With three stand-alone stores in NYC alone and shop-in-shops all over the country, the brand is making a major statement in the US. And why not? With famous fans like Alexa Chung and Dree Hemingway, Sandro has all the cool girls going crazy for their on-trend clothing and accessories.

From sweaterdresses with flair to perfectly tailored coats, our sale on Gilt.com has it all. Start shopping this Friday at noon ET, and don’t be late! We have our eyes on more than one (ok, five) pieces.

5 Things to Know About…Rebecca Taylor

We can thank the sandy beaches of New Zealand for giving us the urbane mind of designer Rebecca Taylor. From her studio in NYC, she spins out the kind of clothing we all want to wear — feminine but cool, flattering but sexy, bold but wearable. Her embellishments, use of color, and appealing silhouettes have already made her a staple in closets of fashion icons like Alexa Chung, Reese Witherspoon, Rashida Jones, Emmy Rossum, and the Duchess of Cambridge, to name a few. And that’s not to mention her rabid fan base here at Gilt.com! Before you stock your fall wardrobe with her designs — starting at noon ET on September 6 — find out five fun facts to know about the designer.

1. Her interest in fashion stemmed from an early childhood interest in sewing and fashion design, which explains the multi-faceted references that appear in every collection.

2. Taylor’s pieces have been featured in magazines around the world, including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Glamour, W, Nylon, Marie Claire, and In Style.

3. While Rebecca Taylor puts on a lavish show every season at the tents (now at Lincoln Center) as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NYC, her debut show was part of Gen Art.

4. The line launched in 1996 with a focus on apparel, expanding to include accessories in 2008. The accessories collection includes shoes, handbags, and other small leather goods.

5. While you can find Rebecca Taylor in boutiques, department stores, and on Gilt.com, she also has seven freestanding stores in New York, California and Arizona.
