You don’t need to walk a mile in Tabitha Simmons’ shoes to understand how her impressive pedigree has made her the footwear designer of the moment: She’s been a model, stylist, Vogue contributor, and wife of famed fashion photog Craig McDean, almost all of which require a serious pair of high heels to get the job done. To celebrate the sale of her utterly chic shoes on Gilt today (rejoice!), we caught up to ask a few pressing questions.
SF: What’s the one pair of shoes you can’t live without?
TS: My Alexa flats or Early boots.
SF: What was your own first-ever pair of designer shoes?
TS: My first pair of designer shoes were Manolo Blahnik black patent stiletto’s.
SF:How many pairs are in your personal collection?
TS: I have over 300 pairs of shoes in my collection.
SF: Anything you’ve learned as a stylist that has made you a better shoe designer?
TS: I’m always on top of trends.
SF: Can we expect expansion any time soon–handbags?
TS: I would love to design handbags in the future.

TS: The quintessential Tabitha Simmons girl is fashionable, timeless, easy, cool. and wants quality and her favorite labels are Alaïa, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, and Proenza Schouler.
SF: Any celeb you’ve seen in your shoes and had a “no way!” moment?
TS: Beyonce in my Dolly espadrilles!
