It was a whirlwind New York Fashion Week (as ever!)–my role as Editorial Director here at Gilt meant eight straight days of shows, parties, and presentations, and I’m letting all of you in on my favorite moments…
My first official event of the season was the Kate Spade New York presentation, which never fails to put me in an epically smiley mood. For spring ’14, creative director Deborah Lloyd brought the serious sunshine with lemon motifs and utterly covetable accessories.
Later that afternoon, Rebecca Minkoff treated show-goers to a runway-side private performance by Janelle Monae. Listening to “Tightrope” while models strutted in neo-hippie, California cool girl staples? Definitely the highlight of my day.
It may be blurry, but I swear that’s Naomi Campbell closing Diane Von Furstenberg‘s show over the weekend. All I could think was, SUPERMODEL, WORK!
Later that night, a slew of stunning red carpet types came out to celebrate Zac Posen‘s overwhelmingly glam gowns. I wonder if Molly Sims, Christina Hendricks, or Stacy Keibler will wear this number first?
Dinner break! Post-Zac, I met up with a couple of editor friends I used to work with at Glamour for a bite at The East Pole. I’m not usually one to snap my plate (I prefer devouring it), but this smoked tomato orecchiette was too good to be forgotten.
Monday morning kicked off with Carolina Herrera, whose fluttery two-piece had me thinking two things: I wish I hadn’t eaten that orecchiette last night, and who knows where on Earth I would ever where this, but I need it in my life.
Just when you thought espadrilles had reached their heights of popularity, along comes Alice + Olivia with a seriously stacked creeper version. It was just one of the details that made Stacey Bendet’s presentation photo-opp worthy.
I spent all day Tuesday out with Mr. Newton shooting a video–coming soon to StyleFile!–and by far the coolest moment was when bona fide street style star Anna Dello Russo stopped to chat and pose (and jump in the air to give us the full effect of her Saint Laurent Paris look !).
Wednesday brought a radio interview on Sirius XM, where the insanely funny Jenny Hutt of Fashion…Unzipped! and I talked about my favorite runway trends, the week’s most exciting moments, and all the stuff you’ll see on Gilt for spring 2014.
What a week…what did you gals see that you loved? Dish!
