Spring 2014 comes down to a numbers game: Four cities, hundreds of models, more than a thousand designers, and now, ten favorite looks to represent the very best of the season. After a month-long parade of designer duds, these are the ones that got my heart racing:
Altuzarra: I don’t know how this woman manages to appear sexy, tomboy-ish, mysterious, laidback, feminine, and expensive as hell all in one sleek look, but I do know I need it in my life, like, immediately.
Tom Ford: The man has never been Tom Ford-ier than he was this season. This rich caramel leather jacket has me vowing to skip dinners out for a year just to get close to this exquisite piece.
The Row: Something about this silhouette is so insanely chic–the basic body is classic 90s, but the addition of those sleeves makes it feel right this minute.
Christian Dior: It’s official: Raf Simons has re-imagined this brand in a way the house’s namesake could never have envisioned (but surely would have been taken with). The fit of this skirt is impeccable, but even more fabulous is the unexpected pairing with bold orange (and don’t get me started on the jewelry!)…
Dolce & Gabbana: I’ve come to rely on these guys for an insane dose of glamour season after season. What I wasn’t expecting was a serious amount of straight-up pretty in the form of this cherry blossom dress.
Anthony Vaccarello: How do you balance a ridiculous amount of sex appeal? With a crisp white menswear shirt that makes a va-va-voom denim skirt seem even cooler.
Valentino: Speaking of balance, this is the way to pull off silk hot pants. A femme coat and a tie blouse somehow make them seem demure.
Céline: Leave it to Phoebe Philo to make me want graffiti. This whole 90s redux thing suddenly doesn’t seem so scary.
Max Mara: It’s all about the old-school “outfit” this season. Matchy-matchy orange is a must-have for spring.
Christopher Kane: The young London-based designer “stands alone,” as style.com put it this season, and it’s looks like these that make it obvious why. Who else could turn the simplest sweatshirt into an insanely luxe, sexy piece?
And there you have it: My top picks for the 10 chicest looks of the spring 2014 season. What were yours?
