StyleFile: Who are your muses?
Guido: I find inspiration in the everyday woman. Anyone could be a muse for me. My eyes are always open to finding inspiration everywhere.
SF: Let’s talk supermodels–you’ve worked with all of them! Any favorites? Guido: Every supermodel is a supermodel for a reason. They are all amazing. I’ve had good times with all of them, for example Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista…just to name a few.
SF: What is your number one pet peeve when it comes to hair? Is there a trend you see over and over again that you wish would end already?
Guido: I think my pet peeve would be the overuse of the curling iron. What started out as a great beachy wave, has turned into bad prom curls. It’s time for that to go.
SF: Where do you generally find inspiration? Do you approach a collection with an idea of what you want to do and let evolve naturally, or do you have an exact picture in your mind from the outset?
Guido: I find inspiration absolutely everywhere from literally walking down the street to looking at architectural designs to subcultures and music. The good thing is, when you travel around as much as I do you can get inspiration from many different countries. Each place has its own personality so I get my inspiration from museums, art, exhibitions, music, architecture, design from all over the world.
SF: What would you say is the most influential runway look that you’ve created in your career? Any that have really effected how women wear their hair?
Guido: The Alexander Wang side braid, Spring/Summer 2010.
SF: What’s the one product every single woman should have in her hair arsenal?
Guido: Redken Guts 10 volume spray foam. This is my go-to product when I want to add fullness to the hair. If you love root lift, then you will love Guts 10.
