The 22nd Winter Olympic Games officially kicked off today in Sochi, Russia. And while we’re all for the pageantry and patriotism of the opening ceremony, you can’t blame us for honing in on what’s really important: what everyone was wearing. For the fourth consecutive games, iconic designer Ralph Lauren outfitted the athletes in full American regalia, courtesy of patchwork sweaters stamped with stars, stripes, and the Olympic rings. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re certainly generating some serious buzz — after all, Team USA has a long history of making a statement in the Parade of Nations. Check out some of the most memorable uniforms of the past, and snap up a few winning looks for yourself in our gold-medal sale, starting tomorrow at noon ET.
