Q: What does it mean to you to manufacture in New York? Why is it so important?
New York City – it’s where I got my start. Where Tucker happened. New York City has always been a dream-maker and I want to keep it that way. Graydon Carter wrote that New York used to manufacture the most pianos in the world and now we make muffins. I’ll keep making my clothes in midtown.

Q: How do you see your pieces working into a woman’s wardrobe?
You can go anywhere in Tucker. And women are going everywhere these days-to college, to the office, to the boardroom, to take kids to school, to children’s graduations. Tucker will be treasured pieces in a women’s wardrobe because they are special and unique, but can be wore in infinite ways. Tucker=Infinite possibilities.

Q: Why are the pieces in this sale special to you?
This is a great opportunity to tell people that Tucker is made in New York City, in the factory that made our first order. In a time when we are sending our ideas away to be made in other places. I am interested in building business here that can benefit in broader ways- not just looking’ pretty! But absolutely looking fabulous.

Q: The way your clothes move is always so beautiful. How do you approach that sense of movement in your design?
I think of how Tucker moves and feels as well. I try to wear everything I design. I walk, I dance, I ride my bike, chase three kids, walk the dog, go to the office, go to a gala celebrating my sister’s accomplishments. Many ladies in the crowd wearing Tucker! LIVE and love wearing Tucker. As a customer wrote us, “Viva Tucker!”

Q: How do you suggest combining prints into your home as well as your wardrobe?
The more the merrier. Experiment, play. Find the right balance, find the wrong balance. Enjoy it.
