Adidas is the product of a sibling-rivalry moment between brothers Rudolf and Adolf Dassler, who in 1948 resolved an argument by splitting their Bavaria-based shoe factory into two new companies: Puma, founded by Rudolf, and Adidas, established by Adolf. The Adidas Consortium collection features the iconic sportswear label’s collaborations with cutting-edge brands such as hanon, BAPE (A Bathing Ape), Wood Wood and Sneakernstuff, as well as high-fashion shoes like the Rivalry Lo. In addition to creating artistic athletic shoes, Adidas has outfitted sports teams and elites such as running icon Jesse Owens in its top-quality footwear. These days the globally recognized lifestyle megabrand produces sneakers and stylish sweats for men, women, and children as well as golf gear, underwear, accessories, eyewear, chic outerwear, and watches. Adidas also owns the household-name shoe brands Reebok and Rockport.
Rubber-soled style appears here in both formal and casual, classic and contemporary shapes. One model even has a built-in pedometer and chronometer. Not even Yoda had that much information at hand. Or foot.
Behold, an entire summer’s worth of theme and variation! These shirts come in all shapes and sizes, from dressy (think Massimo Bizzocchi and Ike Behar) to casual (the T-shirt obsessives at Loden Dager). Shorts range from silk cotton by Nat Nast to seersucker check by Trovata. And shoes include leather slip-ons (Clae,) lightweight canvas (Toms), and fanciful streetwear (Adidas Consortium, Puma Black Label). If you don’t find anything in this sale, you clearly don’t like shirts, shorts or shoes.
Occasionally we'll have a sale that is so comprehensive it defies description. This is such a sale. The Main Event gathers the best shoes, bags, leather goods and belts from some of our favorite brands. Shoes run from the formal brogued oxfords of Antonio Maurizi to the minimalist sneakers of Sneaky Steves. Bags from Rag & Bone abut ties from Ralph Lauren and cufflinks from Links of London.
