When Alexander McQueen sold his first collection straight out of Central St. Martin's masters program to influential style icon Isabella Blow, it was clear that an unprecedented career was in store for the young, Savile Row-trained tailor. Fifteen years and several spectacular collections later, McQueen was known across the runways of the world for his dramatic silhouettes and provocative, theatrical shows. The acclaimed designer's darkly romantic sensibility was always centered on masterful construction and exquisite couture-style detail. With fragrances, menswear, and a denim-based diffusion line called McQ, McQueen’s empire reigns on thanks the appointment of his right-hand woman Sarah Burton as creative director following the designer's tragic passing in 2010.
