Ali Ro clothing designer Kathleen McFeeters focuses her brand exclusively on jackets and dresses for contemporary women. Why? Because narrowing the scope of her collection gives McFeeters more latitude to concentrate on patterns, colors, and design improvements — "the particulars" that can turn an ordinary garment into something truly special. Ali Ro recently updated its anorak to add piping in contrasting colors; this new detail, coupled with longer sleeves, turns a great coat into a classic (it doesn't hurt that the anorak double-duties as a waterproof raincoat). Ali Ro dresses vary from jersey shifts to flouncy frocks in silk or lace named after rock stars, classic songs and pop artists.
