Because narrowing the scope of her collection gives McFeeters more latitude to concentrate on patterns, colors, and design improvements — "the particulars" that can turn an ordinary garment into something truly special. Ali Ro recently updated its anorak to add piping in contrasting colors; this new detail, coupled with longer sleeves, turns a great coat into a classic (it doesn't hurt that the anorak double-duties as a waterproof raincoat). Ali Ro dresses vary from jersey shifts to flouncy frocks in silk or lace named after rock stars, classic songs and pop artists.
