Ann Demeulemeester
With the rest of the Antwerp Six — a network of young Belgian designers that includes Martin Margiela and Dries Van Noten — Demeulemeester stormed London in 1987 and helped create the minimalist runway lookt hat defined the next decade. Her menswear aesthetic translates just as well now as it did then, and her diehard, combat-boot wearing devotees are as loyal as ever. And — just so you know — it's Duh-MULE-eh-mees-ter.
