Anouk Krueger started her career in fashion as a purveyor of hip, carefully-sourced gear — stocking her cheerful Malibu boutique with lines created by other Southern California designers. It wasn’t long before Krueger launched her own rough-hewn footwear collection inspired by boho style and world cultures. Many of Krueger’s sturdy lug- and wood-soled leather boots and shoes are influenced by equestrian gear: the Carmen, for example, is a riff on the classic Portuguese riding boot, and the Blanche reinterprets the traditional polo boot. Made only from super-supple leather and suede, Anouk footwear comes in a selection of earthy, classic shades such as black, tan, and deep burgundy.
