Assouline
Assouline publishes the illustrated art and fashion books you buy as gifts but end up keeping for yourself. Founded by French husband-and-wife team Prosper and Martine Assouline in 1994, this New York-based publishing house offers a collection of more than 1,000 image-heavy titles on design, fashion, food, art, travel, architecture, and photography. Notable works include "The American Fashion Cookbook," containing recipes from more than 100 designers plus a foreword by Martha Stewart; Claiborne Swanson Frank's "American Beauty," featuring high-art photographs of American women; and Francois Baudot and Francoise Aveline's three-book set on iconic designer Coco Chanel. Aside from its printing press, Assouline operates several charming book boutiques in Paris, New York, Istanbul, and other major world cities.
