Bajra
As one of the first brands to market pashmina to the general public, Bajra occupies a special place in the history of cashmere wool. Founded by designer Barbara Behn Constantinescu in 1992, this Nepal-based company produces luxurious hand-woven, hand-dyed silk, pashmina, and cashmere goods in every imaginable color and color combination — from tri-color scarves enhanced by gradual shading to multi-hued woven satin stoles. Nepalese craftspeople finish off Bajra's shawls, hats, and wraps with embroidered stitching and other embellishments reflective of their region. With two new collections every year and rack space at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and other exclusive shops around the world, Bajra remains a dominant force in the world of fine cashmere goods.
