Hollywood celebrities and tastemakers have adored Band of Outsiders and its retro-vintage, all-American clothing since 2004, when founder Scott Sternberg debuted his label as a menswear-only collection. In 2007 Sternberg expanded Band of Outsiders with Boy. by Band of Outsiders — a ready-to-wear womenswear line that melds preppy cool with a rebellious aesthetic. Basic blazers and vests, striped dresses, and corduroy skirts become exceptional thanks to expert tailoring and details such as pintuck pleats, Henley plackets, and chunky zippers. Boy. by Band of Outsider fans include Miranda Kerr, Sarah Silverman, and First Lady Michelle Obama (seen looking stunning in a perfectly fitting blue toile de jouy dress).
Sleek jeans, strappy heels, and more, saturated in the hottest hue of the moment.
Exceptionally graceful dresses and separates from the budding New York brand.
Work-with-everything pieces with everyday appeal — from Akris Punto, M. Patmos, and more.
CAA agent turned designer Scott Sternberg launched his label Band of Outsiders in January 2004. Using vintage fabrics and hand-sewn seams, Sternberg quickly made a name for himself with his sharply cut shirts and skinny ties. Top stores and luxury boutiques quickly took notice of this emerging line and Band of Outsiders and Boy by Band of Outsiders (his old-school preppy women’s line) was picked up by Ron Herman in L.A. in addition to Jeffery, and Barneys New York. With a collection that can be described as “American” and “young,” Sternberg was honored with the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Emerging Talent in Menswear award, the Swarovski Award for Menswear and a nomination for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund to boot. The company has been on the forefront of the return of American tailored trends and these progressive designs enjoy a cult following with names like Zoe Deschanel and Chloe Sevigny. With nationwide distribution with high-end boutiques and specialty stores, Boy by Band of Outsiders is an exciting addition to Gilt Groupe.
