Brooklyn Workshop, the brainchild of former attorney Alon Karpman, launched the Skatecycle in July 2010, but the idea for the company and the product had been in the works for nearly ten years. The first mass-produced, self-propelled hubless skate, the foldable, aluminum-framed Skatecycle is part bike, part skateboard, and weighs in at a lean 7.3 lbs.
