Athlete-approved kicks cut out for after school adventures
Made for the playground: Rubber-soled sneakers, boots, and Mary Janes
Colorful canvas sneakers, Mary Jane flats, and other well-crafted picks
The ultimate blank canvases? Bucketfeet’s signature canvas kicks. The Chicago-based brand was born from a chance friendship between backpacker Raaja Nemani and artist Aaron Firestein, who met while traveling in Argentina: To see him through the rest of his journey, Firestein drew on a pair of sneakers and gifted them to Nemani. After the hand-illustrated shoes kept the compliments coming throughout six continents, the two went into business together. Fit for toddlers and big kids, too, each limited-edition sneaker is designed by a different artist, including painters, photographers, and graphic designers from 100 countries.
