Born and raised in Newfoundland, cartography40n74w founder and self-described adventurist Mark Armstrong Peddigrew relocated to London in 2002 to become a “student of the world,” then moved on to NYC. During his travels, through cities big and small, he amassed an impressive collection of vintage charms, rustic ephemera, and one-of-a-kind bobs. This collector’s streak eventually gave way to cartography40n74w: a jewelry line crafted from the found objects Peddigrew accumulated during his journeys, shot through with an expert balance of historical reverence and easygoing playfulness. In the brand’s own words, each one-of-a-kind cartography40n74w charm necklace consists of “a knife, an animal, a religious icon, a stone and a token related to travel.” Parisian picture books of the 1890s, Brazilian chrysoprase stones, and golden compasses are just a few of the intriguing items you’ll find in cartography40n74w’s collection.
