Chantelle has been intimate with women since 1876. The French lingerie company was started during the textile boom of the mid-Nineteenth Century by Monsieur Gamichon. With newly developed weaving techniques, he brought to market the first corset to incorporate elastic fabric. Some years later, his nephew Maurice Kretz joined the firm, and further developed the mill’s technology. In the 1940, his son, Jean Kretz joined the firm and the Chantelle name was adopted. The company paved the way for supportive, sexy women’s undergarmets throughout the 1950s, 60s—when they were the first to have catwalk lingerie shows featuring women in bras. Today, still based near Paris, Chantelle offers a full line of lingerie for women with discerning taste.
