Italian fashion designer Ennio Capasa debuted his avant-garde, ready-to-wear label Costume National in 1986 with a line of tailored men’s suits and high-quality leather jackets. Over the decades Costume National has expanded its repertoire to include women’s clothing and bags, swimwear, glasses, fragrances, and shoes. Evocative of 1970s rocker chic, and elegantly minimalistic, Costume National’s designs have adorned many of the same musicians whose personal styles inspire its collections — by our count, that includes at least three of the Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, and Juliette Lewis. In addition to the flagship line, Costume National also owns the diffusion labels C’N’C Costume National (contemporary street-inspired style) and Costume National Homme.
