When Ungkun Chansavangwonk opened the Establishment showroom in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District in 2008, he brought the natural modernism of Thai design to a neighborhood made famous by its gritty, urban architecture. Today, Establishment draws customers who crave a gentler form of minimalism, showcasing sectional sofas, bamboo sculpture, and lacquer accessories by a stable of American and Thai designers.
