Artist Bio:

How to apprehend light is a central concern to artist Dike Blair and in his show at Gagosian Gallery in New York this exploration was fully evident in eyes and skies alike. He attempts to reconcile the gap between painting and sculpture with the same passion that Richard Prince brings in the marriage of photography and painting. While many contemporary artists today work amidst multiple disciplines, the mediums themselves often seem in conflict and that juxtaposition remains ripe for mining. A graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago, whose alumni include Jeff Koons and Rikrit Travajiana, Dike says that his paintings are always personal while his objects tend to be more formal and perhaps it's that tension which makes his installations so arresting. A native of Pennsylvania, Dike works and lives in New York City.

Launched in late 2010 by Laura Martin, Gabby Munoz, Bill Powers, and Cynthia Rowley (yes, that Cynthia Rowley), Exhibition A is a members-only website with a whole new approach to buying and collecting art. By partnering with highly relevant contemporary artists to create signed, limited-edition prints, the website offers a whole new group of consumers entry into the world of fine art. With attainable price points and a well-developed curatorial point of view — the latter thanks to the serious industry bona fides of the team of co-founders — Exhibition A seeks to foster a new segment of art collectors, and to prove that collecting is a whole lot better than simply decorating.
