Genie is a chic line of straw hats, woven caps and hair accessories by NYC-based designer Eugenia Kim, who launched her quirky accessories collection after designing a fabulous headpiece to cover up a particularly terrible haircut. Kim was still a Parsons student when she designed her hairdo-hiding headpiece and wore it around Manhattan, quickly catching the attention of boutique owners. These days Kim is known for her men’s and women’s hats, scarves and winter accessories, which feature innovative shapes, luxe materials, and atypical details. Designs like the Britt headband (a sequined turban), the Leighton boucle trapper hat, and the Lana, a floppy wide-brim style that evokes Kim’s Carmen fedora hat, have made Kim a favorite among celebrities like Beyoncé, Sarah Jessica Parker and Gwen Stefani. In addition to her own designs, Kim has collaborated with the iconic hat brand Stetson on a collection inspired by the colorful paintings of American artist Georgia O'Keeffe.
