Description: Debates over Piedmont’s Nebbiolo vs. Barolo grapes are nothing new. They say Barolo wines, aged longer, are more powerful, tannic, and are “King” to the soft, elegant and less expensive Barbaresco. OK, fine, we concede: This Barbaresco has grace and structure, is full of soft, ripe fruits with sweet tannins, and is not nearly as powerful as a Barolo—but we think it’s a good thing. With a braised pork shank or fried chicken, we’d drink this Barbaresco any day.
