Halston
Launched by Roy Halston Frowick in 1968, this self-titled men’s and women’s ready-to-wear label is synonymous with 1970s jet-set sophistication. A milliner by training, the Des Moines-born icon would go on to create Jacqueline Kennedy's inaugural pillbox hat. After his move to clothing design, he became the designer of choice for celebrities such as Bianca Jagger and Liza Minnelli and was named "the premier fashion designer of all America" by Newsweek magazine. He was also one of the first designers to use licensing to make couture styles available to all women. Since his death, the label has had several owners and creative directors, the latest being Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
