About Hiho Batik

Inspired by the graphic art of Keith Haring and the visceral techniques used by New York’s street artists, Julia Silver Gordon began pursuing her own creative passion — using batik, an ancient method of dying textiles. Since then, she’s become one of the most recognized batik authorities in the country, opening her Hiho Batik boutique in 1994. Her latest venture has her translating the technique, which involves dip-dying cloth covered in wax, into an artful children’s line, full of bright tees, tanks, sundresses and onesies.
