Glamorous, geometric styles that recall a genteel era
Gilt's editorial VP, Tyler Thoreson, possesses a personal (and design) style that puts a fresh, contemporary spin on the classics. And here, in the latest incarnation of our latest "Gilt Influencer Picks" series, he's chosen both men's fashion and home decor that encapsulate that aesthetic: Everything on offer here — urban-yet-rugged denim, sleek bags, pop-icon art, clean-lined sofas, and lots more — are a perfect blend of timeless and right-now. Made in Turkey, Simple Life’s creations are anything but ordinary; established in 1998 by sisters Meltem and Sebnem Berker, the brand focuses on designs that are inspired by the beauty and culture of Istanbul. Here, we feature their home fragrances: We love the candles’ soothing, sweet scents and artful painted-glass vessels. But perhaps the biggest standouts are the diffusers: Each is topped with a porous marble-and-stone figure, in sculptural shapes like shells and flowers (even a mysterious owl), connected to a cotton wick that draws the fragrance up and through. These are way more than just home fragrances; they’re design statements.
Designer and stylist Jeremiah Brent has created candles that go way beyond the burn — they’re nothing less than works of art. Each is hand poured into a gold-mirrored glass tumbler, which Brent personally designed. (The luxe, metallic look is especially suitable for this festive time of year.) And the scents — choose from Fig, Rose, and Fire, each rendered in hand-poured soy wax — are nothing less than sublime. Find these candles here, along with a host of other stylish items Brent chose from the Gilt Home coffers, to inspire you to complete your space (yes, these candles are worth building a room around!)
