Using natural resin and the old-world art of scrimshaw, former corporate consultant turned jewelry designer Jessica Kagan Cushman creates remarkably modern jewelry etched with irreverent catchphrases and intriguing imagery. Cushman’s eye-catching, hand-carved collection includes cuffs studded with crystal astrological constellations, Nantucket bangle bracelets emblazoned with witty sayings, zodiac pendant necklaces, cheekily worded rings, and double-sided charm bracelets; her resin clutch purses and natural cotton canvas bags come emblazoned with Victorian-inspired designs. In 2012, Cushman joined forces with Santa Barbara Design Studio to launch a line of napkins, wine glasses and other giftware done up in her trademark witty style.
