Southern California-based casual clothing line johnnie-O debuted in 2004, not long after founder and head designer John O’Donnell (brother to actor Chris) helped a friend with a personal apparel project. What started as a hobby quickly took off: O’Donnell recognized a business opportunity, and produced a small run of laid-back polo shirts for his friends to wear on a golf trip. The shirts were a hit, and O’Donnell launched johnnie-O. Now a full-fledged clothing brand for adults and kids, johnnie-O designs women’s dresses, men’s striped neck ties, children’s T-shirts, and much more — all featuring the line’s signature “West Coast prep” vibe.
