Founded in 1963 by Judith and her husband, the artist Gerber Leiber, Judith Leiber has outfitted celebrities, socialites, princesses and queens with some of the most luxurious accessories on the market.

1. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Judith Leiber is a Holocaust survivor. During World War II, she trained with the Hungarian Handbag Guild and was the very first woman to be recognized as a master of the bag-making craft.
2. Since 1953, nearly every First Lady of the United States has carried a Judith Leiber handbag to the presidential inauguration ceremony.
3. Museums around the world, including London’s Victoria and Albert and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, feature Judith Leiber handbags in their permanent collections.
4. In 1998, Judith and Gerber sold their company and retired.
5. In 2005, the Leibers opened the Leiber Museum in Springs, New York, as a gallery and showcase for Judith’s creations and Gerber’s modernist paintings and sculptures.
