Founded in 1990 by Kevin O’Brien, an architect turned painter, the Philadelphia-based company produces stunning handmade robes, decorative pillows, stuffed animals, and area rugs. Its specialty is devore velvet, also known as velvet burn-out, but it also produces quietly luxurious goods in linen and silk. Yet arguably its greatest pride is its partnerships with artisans located in Mongolia, Vietnam, India, and Nepal. The studio pays them a fair wage for their labor, aims to improve their communities, and works to preserve their traditional textile crafts, including felting and embroidery.
These casually luxurious cushions begin with a sketch, which artisans then transfer onto fabric by hand using custom-mixed dyes and a multi-step process. That’s why each of these velvet and linen beauties is slightly different. Choose from snakeskin, op-art, and nature-inspired patterns. All come with a poly-fill insert and zipper closure.
