Emerging designer Kimberly Ovitz is no fashion fledgling. A former intern for legendary fashion photographer Herb Ritts and the Chanel design atelier in Paris, Ovitz is a virtuoso when it comes to choosing flattering cuts that accentuate women’s sensuality. Launched in 2009, her eponymous ready-to-wear collection includes ethereal mesh tops and body-hugging dresses in basic black or white, as well as gauzy maxi-dresses and monochromatic sweaters in neutral hues. The Hisu Warrior, a long-sleeved dress marked by textured geometric shapes, is a stand-out, as is the perfectly pintucked Glavis mini dress. In 2012 Ovitz debuted O by Kimberly Ovitz, an elegant, eco-friendly collection of minimalist separates. In addition to appearing in the pages of W, Elle, and other major fashion publications, Ovitz’s designs have graced the likes of Cameron Diaz and Anne Hathaway.
When we think downtown chic, we immediately think of Doo.Ri, Tart, and Leroy & Perry. So it’s no coincidence that all of those designers (and more!) are featured in today’s roundup of trendy separates. Think studded mini-dresses, leather panel dresses, fitted jackets, and borrowed-from-the-boys tuxedo pants.
Time and time again, emerging designer Kimberly Ovitz manages to stun us with a simple palette of black and white. And her latest mix for Gilt is no exception: Sharp, asymmetric cuts, hint-of-skin cutouts, irregular patterns, and figure-flattering fits give these dresses and separates an of-the-moment edge. To create a look that's guaranteed to trigger double-takes, make like our stylists and pair these picks with red pumps.
We’ve all heard it before: “No white after Labor Day!” But we’re here to dispel that myth with a collection of gorgeous winter whites that will help spruce up your dark and dreary winter ensembles. Cozy and tasteful, this collection runs the gamut from cashmere sweaters by Inhabit and wrapped cardigans by Magaschoni to knit dresses by Renvy and classic loafers by Rag & Bone.
What's red, white, blue—and undeniably stylish? The selection of patriotic pieces we've rounded up for you here: Think crisp white blouses, bright blue separates, and little red dresses versatile enough for the hot summer months and beyond. Find the hues in small doses, too, like cherry-red totes, small cosmetic clutches in nautical blue-and-white stripes, bold blue sandals and pumps, and stacks of gold and red bangles.
