Designers Hilary Rosenman and Barri Budin launched Madison Harding in 2007 to provide an accessible yet fashionable women’s footwear option for the artsy hipster set. The designing duo, who met while studying art at Skidmore College in New York, specialize in creating modern-vintage leather ballet flats, black ankle booties, and other shoes and boots rich in edgy details — think braids, chain-link, and grommet-studded textures. Many of the label’s strappy wedge sandals, city-gritty pumps and handbags are named after the streets of the Lower East Side — the post-trendy Manhattan neighborhood that serves as a muse of sorts. Named after the NYC and New Jersey streets where Rosenman and Budin grew up, Madison Harding is a favorite among fashionable notables such as Charlotte Ronson and Chloe Sevigny.
