The stunning textiles and artistry of India inspired NYC fashion designer Samara Mahendru to create Muny, her vibrantly colored children’s clothing brand. Based in Brooklyn, Muny (pronounced “moo-knee”) offers a collection of fair-trade dresses, boys’ button-down shirts, loose tunics, and pajama sets handcrafted in India by artisans trained in the art of block-printing. Eye-catching colors and fun prints (pink and blue airplanes, tiny flowers) make Muny’s designs playful and cheeky. We especially love how Mahendru uses quirky details — sideways front pockets, stripes juxtaposed with floral print, elasticized hems on 1920s-ish overalls — to add an element of surprise and fun to every Muny creation.
