MYMU founder Gabriela Lanardonne grew up in Manhattan but spent her vacations with her family in Buenos Aires, her father’s hometown. During her visits to Argentina Lanardonne took note of the locals’ choice of footwear: alpargatas, a casual yet elegant espadrille, or canvas slip-on shoe. She resolved to bring the traditional alpargata design back to the United States and give it a stylish Manhattan twist. Improved for comfort and refined for elegance, MYMU’s espadrilles come in a variety of styles and fabrics — from the Lawrence slip-on shoe trimmed with leather lacing, to two-tone platform wedges and open-toe sandals.
