About Orthodox

Orthodox is a sophisticated and intellectually savvy collection of contemporary men's clothing founded by Los Angeles-based fashion designer Eric Niccoli in 2007. The clean lines and idiosyncratic details of Orthodox’s T-shirts, button-down shirts, jackets and cardigans are inspired by modern architecture and cater to the literate man about town. Many Orthodox pieces are named after famous authors: wear the “Orwell” jacket while down and out in Paris and London, the “Austen” button-down for some witty high-society sparring, or the “Bukowski” jacket while scribbling in a wine-stained notebook. Orthodox’s moody lifestyle brand deftly blends edgy casual style with indie credibility.

FIVE FOUR & Orthodox

Though FIVE FOUR started out on the Left Coast, this sale's jackets come with a Gotham bent. The Broome jacket, a slim-cut black affair with tiny epaulets, does in fact feel very SoHo. The Eldridge, a tan double-breasted safari-esque jacket, is pure Lower East Side. And the jeans, made of quality straight-legged denim, fit in downtown, uptown, Eastside or Westside. Part of the fun of Orthodox's clothing is guessing which author inspired which piece. Is the "Ian," a sleek black leather jacket, named after Ian McEwan or Ian Fleming? The other fun part, of course, is actually wearing the comfortable and finely crafted clothes.
