Penguin Books publishes an incredibly diverse array of books, representing some of the most prestigious and bestselling authors in the world - up to 70% off. The company was founded in 1935 by Sir Allen Lane, who was distressed by the poor quality of reading material available at the railway station as his train was about to leave for Exeter. He decided then and there to found a publishing house that would publish high quality paperback books, for the meager price of sixpence each, around $1.50 in today’s money. Little did Sir Allen know that he was about to revolutionize the publishing industry in the UK and around the world, demonstrating that there was (and still is) a mass market for good, serious literature.
