Beautiful on the feet and flattering to the leg, French designer Pierre Hardy’s shoes are works of art in their own right. Hardy’s eclectic background in dance, illustration and architecture is clearly evident in his designs. One of the busiest men in the fashion industry, he juggles running his eponymous line, which he founded in 1999, as well as developing the men’s and women’s shoe collections for Balenciaga and acting as creative director for the fine-jewelry division at Hermes. In 2003 he joined forces with makeup brand Nars for a new collection of nail polishes and blushers. Famous for his architectural shoe designs, including the Skyline heels and the extremely difficult to produce blade heeled pump, Pierre Hardy is a master in contrasts. From calfskin sandals to velcro sneakers Hardy’s shoes are as unique as their designer.
