Although he’s dressed his share of celebrities in the short time since launching his eponymous line in 2009, Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung’s big break came when Michelle Obama wore his hand-tucked, show-stopping cocktail dress to the White House Correspondents Dinner. But Gurung is no newcomer to fashion: His international résumé includes styling fashion shoots across the globe, as well as stints in New York working for Donna Karan, Cynthia Rowley, and Bill Blass. Prabal Gurung won the Ecco Domani Fashion Fund Award, is part of the CFDA Fashion Incubator program, and was nominated for the 2010 CFDA Womenswear Award.
