You can learn a lot from P. Diddy, but eventually it’s time to go back to school. That’s what Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne discovered in 2007 when the two Sean John designers launched their own Public School label. If the marauding ’70s gangs from The Warriors were to put down their baseball bats and take a few style tips from modern-day Japanese streetwear, they might emerge with something like Chow and Osborne’s high-end hoodies, jeans, and jackets. Melding European tailoring with an intentionally skewed aesthetic—“perfection in imperfection” is the stated goal—Public School could earn you extra credits in street cred.
