Sally Miller
Designing couture for preteen girls gives Sally Miller a unique perspective on fashion. Not only must Miller take into consideration that tweens quickly outgrow their clothing — both literally, and as a matter of taste — but she must also appeal to the preferences of her customers’ equally particular parents. Rather than shrink grown-up designer clothing styles down to size, Miller pays closer attention to girls’ changing figures. Launched in 2007, her collection includes lace baby-doll dresses, paisley print tops, leggings, and other designs inspired by Miller’s own free-spirited daughters. A shirred panel here, a cascade of ruffles there, layers of chiffon: each detail reflects refinement and modernity while remaining age-appropriate.
