Longtime friends Satya Scainetti and Beth Ward launched Satya Jewelry in 2002 after both women had experienced several life-changing stints abroad. Named after the Sanskrit word for “truth” — and the nickname Scainetti acquired while attending a yoga-instructor course at an ashram in the Bahamas — Satya incorporates glittering gemstones and meaningful symbols in its designs. Many of the NYC-based label's pieces are inspired by religious temples, museums, Thai textiles, ancient Indian coins, and castings from found objects. Satya's best-selling silver and golden lotus ring, hamsa (palm-shaped amulet) earrings and necklaces, beaded Tree of Life bracelets, etched bangles, and lustrous birthstone pendants have made it a favorite among trendsetting celebs such as Courteney Cox and Scarlett Johansson.
