With help from former Proenza Schouler designer Madeline von Froomer, Sophomore translates the easy insouciance of its women’s T-shirts into draping, body-con dresses and slim little shorts. The label is the brainchild of fashion designer Chrissie Miller, a late-night party fixture in Manhattan's Lower East Side who started out designing sexy tees for friends and ended up creating a full clothing collection for all her subsequent fans. Sophomore’s T-shirts are now its signature staple: styles come with buttons, lace, or graphic prints. A groovy riff on basics meant to be worn season after season, Sophomore has attracted a diverse community of devotees that includes everyone from Lindsay Lohan to designer Alexander Wang.
