Stella McCartney
Though Stella McCartney has a famous last name, the designer's talent has made her a first name in fashion. While still in her teens, McCartney's advanced design skills won her posts at Christian Lacroix and on London’s famous Savile Row. After developing her eye at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College, McCartney's graduate collection was picked up by the London boutique Tokio and licensed to department stores like Bergdorf Goodman. In 1997, just two years out of school, McCartney replaced Karl Lagerfeld as creative director at Chloe, where she worked until the relaunch of her eponymous label under the Gucci Group in 2001. A strict vegetarian who abstains from the use of fur and leather, McCartney combines razor-sharp tailoring with feminine detail and function. Her original approach has garnered her a VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year Award, collaborations with Adidas and H&M, and personal commissions from Madonna.
